Anatomic Veterinary Pathologist, Health Programs Faculty System (clinical track)

The Department of Pathobiology and Diagnostic Investigation (PDI) and the Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory in the College of Veterinary Medicine (CVM) at Michigan State University (MSU) invite applications for a position in anatomic pathology that is designed to enhance service, education, and research in clinical and diagnostic areas. The appointment will be in the Health Programs (HP) Faculty System (clinical track). Applicants must have a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or equivalent degree. Board eligibility or certification by the American or European College of Veterinary Pathologists (ACVP or ECVP) is strongly desired. Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills are required. A PhD or MS is highly desirable. Applicants interested in appointment in the HP system are expected to support the research missions of the college through any of MSU's exciting opportunities for collaborative and interdisciplinary research. The successful applicant must have a strong interest in diagnostic service and teaching of veterinary students. A strong commitment to providing outstanding diagnostic service for colleagues within the VMC as well as for private veterinary practitioners and clients who submit diagnostic material through the VDL is required. Position responsibilities will include participating in necropsy and biopsy pathology diagnostic services while training DVM students and pathology residents. An interest in a field of diagnostic pathology is preferred. Leadership in teaching veterinary students in the professional DVM curriculum would be expected. The successful candidate will participate in advising, mentoring, and instruction of pathology residents. The MSU CVM is a major referral center for companion animals and horses as well as for livestock, laboratory, zoo, and wildlife species. It has outstanding veterinary medical professionals and facilities, and it offers an excellent environment for professional growth and advancement in anatomic pathology. The VDL, one of the country's premier veterinary diagnostic laboratories, provides full-service laboratory support to the MSU Veterinary Medical Center (VMC) as well as to national and international clients.
