So much of veterinary medicine is about the person not the pet.  The skills of client communication are to be learned no different than the nuances of Cushings.  Healthy Paws Animal Hospital is offering a small animal externship in a general practice setting that focuses on the real world art of communication.  Each week will have a different emphasis based on the extern’s specific interest combined with medical and surgical clinical exposure.  Stipend and housing negotiable.

• Dissecting the Office Visit-communicating effectively and efficiently from hello to goodbye
• Puppy and Kitten 101-communicating a whole health approach to the new puppy and kitten owner
• Second Chances-how to effectively approach new clients transferring care, winning new clients
• Staff Speak-motivation, creating a stellar team environment
• Conquering Conflict-when things are not as rosy, addressing conflict with staff, clients, or management
• Time is Ticking-leveraging time, delegation skills, getting the most out of every minute
